Fed: McDiven likely to step down as party president: Minchin

Liberal Senator NICK MINCHIN says the federal president of the Liberal Party .. CHRIS
MCDIVEN .. is likely to step down from her position tomorrow.

Ms MCDIVEN is expected to announce her intention when the Liberal Party's federal executive
meet in Canberra.

Senator MINCHIN's told ABC Radio the federal council will need to elect a new president
at the next meeting of the party's governing body.

Senator MINCHIN's dismissed suggestions Ms MCDIVEN should have urged former prime minister
JOHN HOWARD to stand down before the election.
