WA: Elies released from Perth hospital

French yachtsman YANN ELIES has been discharged from Royal Perth Hospital after surgery
on injuries he suffered during a round-the-world yacht race.

The 34 year-old sailor suffered a broken leg when he fell to the deck of his yacht
Generali in rough seas off the cost of Western Australia.

He dragged himself to his bunk but could not move for days while the Australian Navy
Frigate HMAS Arunta sailed one thousand kilometres to rescue him.

ELIES underwent surgery a week ago and was discharged from Royal Perth this afternoon.

It's understood he's due to fly back to France tonight.
